Photos: Jaycee Lee Dugard Found Alive. Photos: Inside Jaycee's Terror Tent. Colleen is not as well- known as Elizabeth Smart or Patty Hearst but, if anything, her story is even more incredible. Everyone wants to know why someone like Jaycee or Elizabeth or Patty, all of whom had some apparent freedom, did not flee their kidnappers. Well, Colleen can tell them why. Her story is horrible but instructive. I met Colleen in 2. Elizabeth Smart was found alive, and I've never been able to stop thinking about her. Colleen was held by a husband and wife for seven years as a slave for sex and just about anything else the couple desired but here's the kicker – for much of that time, she lived in a coffin- sized box underneath the couple's bed!! A book was written about Colleen by a prosecutor in the case and its title fittingly is . She came to the interview with her daughter, a young woman, and then calmly but articulately spun out her incredible tale. Colleen was a 2. 0- year- old hitchhiker in 1. What could be safer, she thought? But the husband, Cameron Hooker, was a sexual sadist who took Colleen to the family's isolated trailer and raped her. The abuse got worse and worse. He had done many things. She was abducted soon after. Hooker renamed Colleen . He then shoved the box under the couple's bed every night and kept her as his slave for the next 7 years. Colleen felt she had no control of anything. She said he told her, . The brainwashing is complete. We as free individuals cannot understand it because we've never been in their situation. Some 3 1/2 years into Colleen's captivity – living in a box, being raped repeatedly – her abductor Cameron Hooker took her home for a visit with her family and left them with her overnight. She never said a word about what was going on with Hooker, and in fact went back with him the next day to live in the box again for another 3 . CBS News Correspondent Peter Van Sant was incredulous: . I need your help, I need your protection?'. She went back to the box, and it was only because of Hooker's wife that she was eventually rescued. Hooker's wife went to the authorities at the behest of her minister. Hooker was eventually tried and sentenced to life in prison. His wife was never prosecuted under the theory that she too was abused and scared to death of her husband. Photos: The Search For Jaycee. Photos: Jaycee Lee Dugard Found Alive. Photos: Inside Jaycee's Terror Tent. Colleen recovered after years of therapy. She is now an office manager in Northern California. I caught up with her Monday and asked her about Jaycee Dugard. Colleen said she'd been trying with no luck to get in touch with Jaycee's mother, and had met her mother on a talk show some years ago. Colleen was of course concerned about Jaycee's state of mind. I hope I get the opportunity to talk to her and tell her she did nothing wrong. She did everything right. After being away from the world for 7 1/2 years and all of a sudden you're thrown back in the world and it's hard, very overwhelming. My heart just goes out to these women who come out of these situations. It's hard to adjust to your family situation. She was surprised at how ungrateful everyone was. I was coming out of a situation where I had nothing, and being exposed to these people who had so much and were unappreciative of it and complaining, I thought 'My God why don't they see how blessed they are?'. All I came home with were the clothes on my back. I was blessed with family and friends. She received therapy from Doctor Christopher Hatcher from San Francisco, who has since died. Colleen considers him her savior. I did everything right. People will ask you why you didn't do this or that and they don't know. They were not in that situation. Hatcher helped me understand that people in this situation switch to survival mode. You have to do what you have to do and say to get through this situation and you shut down your emotions. I had to learn how to turn those emotions back on. She'll carry around guilt, shame, anger and it will take years. I never got angry until long after (Cameron Hooker) was arrested. I did not feel safe until he was convicted because I was still afraid he would get off. There's a lot more to it than just walking away. When you're sexually abused, these things solidify the fact that if you don't do what I say, I can take your life. I thought, 'What if he catches me when I try to escape?' It wasn't like I never thought about these things. I did but I never felt safe to act out on them until his wife came to me and said, 'We have to get out of here.'. The cake, she said, was as sweet as life is now. Three More Girls Vanished When Phillip Garrido Got Out of Jail. August 3. 1, 2. 00. The Bloody Exorcism of Coffin Joe. The Bloody Exorcism of Coffin Joe. Theatrical release poster. Directed by. Jos. Marins is also known by his alter ego Z. It is one of several Marins' films that feature Coffin Joe as a major character, although it is not considered part of the . After an interviewer asks Marins about the true existence of Coffin Joe, Marins replies . A camera light then explodes. He states he will leave for vacation at the country home of his friend Alvaro to write the script for his next film, which he plans on calling . He is met there by Mr. Julio, father of Alvaro, tending his flowers. Marins is taken to the house and greeted by Alvaro, his wife Lucia, and their three daughters: Betinha, Luciana, and Vilma. Vilma is soon to be married to her fiancee Carlos. Soon odd things occur around the house and property such as winds blowing and horses being frightened, and that night Mr. Marins investigates the house that night and finds a locked hallway, but is attacked by flying books and the lights turn off. Betinha sees tarantulas and a snake in the Christmas tree. During these events the scene cuts to a strange woman who carries a white cat and is surrounded by occultfigurines and symbols, and has a framed portrait of Coffin Joe behind her on the wall. Lucia admits at Marins that Vilma is promised to a local witch in the marriage to Eugenio, who is the son of Satan. Vilma is actually the daughter of the witch, but Lucia obtained her as a newborn due to her husband's infertility and faked the pregnancy with the promise to raise Vilma and return her as an adult for the marriage to Eugenio. The recent occurrences in the house are the result of the witch's anger at Vilma's engagement to Carlos. Carlos is injured in a mysterious car accident and Lucia faints fearing it to be the action of the witch. The scene then shows the witch biting the head off a rooster as a sacrifice. Marins then returns to his room and hears Vilma moaning in the next room. He finds Vilma wandering naked and she strikes him on the head. Marins wakens in a room with a black mass in progress. He sees the red- gowned hooded figures of Luciana, Mr. Julio and the witch, as well as Vilma and Eugenio side by side. The constant sounds of tortured screams fills the room. After the dancers raise their arms, some sparks fly and Coffin Joe appears. Marins is shocked to see his creation in flesh and blood, shouting rants and pronouncements typical of Coffin Joe, such as . When the wedding starts, Coffin Joe places the rings on Carlos' and Vilma's fingers, announcing . The scenes that follow are a series of vivid depictions of torture, mutilation, dismemberment, and live cannibalism. After forcing Marins from the room, the ceremony takes place, Marins hearing it from the next room. When Marins hears the screams of the youngest daughter Betinha being taken to the ceremony in order to be sacrificed, he returns with a crucifix he found fallen from the wall, and brandishes it saying . He then uses the crucifix to quickly exorcise the family members of their influence from Coffin Joe. Marins and Coffin Joe struggle. After Marins is knocked to the ground, a transparent image of Coffin Joe is seen leaving Marins' body. The witch and Eugenio both die as results of Marins' impromptu Christian pronouncements. Marins wakes in his room clutching the crucifix. He goes to check on the family members and sees Mr. Julio setting the table for Christmas dinner, Vilma and Carlos in a loving embrace, and Betinha and Luciana opening presents. Marins silently takes his leave as they sing Christmas carols. The film ends with a shot of Betinha's face with a serious expression. The camera zooms in to the reflection in her eye which shows Coffin Joe who is laughing amid the sounds of tortured screams. Agenor Alves. Alcione Mazzeo as Luciana. Ariane Arantes as Wilma.

Bear - Wikipedia. Bears are mammals of the family. Ursidae. Bears are classified as caniforms, or doglike carnivorans, with the pinnipeds being their closest living relatives. Although only eight species of bears are extant, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Northern Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. Bears are found on the continents of North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Common characteristics of modern bears include large bodies with stocky legs, long snouts, shaggy hair, plantigrade paws with five nonretractile claws, and short tails. While the polar bear is mostly carnivorous, and the giant panda feeds almost entirely on bamboo, the remaining six species are omnivorous with varied diets. F l i x x y.com: The Bear - Film by Jean-Jacques Annaud. With the exception of courting individuals and mothers with their young, bears are typically solitary animals. They are generally diurnal, but may be active during the night (nocturnal) or twilight (crepuscular), particularly around humans. Bears possess an excellent sense of smell and, despite their heavy build and awkward gait, are adept runners, climbers, and swimmers. Bears use shelters, such as caves and burrows, as their dens; most species occupy their dens during the winter for a long period (up to 1. With their tremendous physical presence and charisma, they play a prominent role in the arts, mythology, and other cultural aspects of various human societies. In modern times, the bears' existence has been pressured through the encroachment on their habitats and the illegal trade of bears and bear parts, including the Asianbile bear market. The IUCN lists six bear species as vulnerable or endangered, and even least concern species, such as the brown bear, are at risk of extirpation in certain countries. The poaching and international trade of these most threatened populations are prohibited, but still ongoing. Etymology. The English word . The use of this name is ancient and has been found mentioned in several runestone inscriptions. Also compared is Hittite. Bears' closest living relatives are the pinnipeds, canids, and musteloids. These animals looked very different from today's bears, being small and raccoon- like in overall appearance, and diets perhaps more similar to that of a badger. Parictis does not appear in Eurasia and Africa until the Miocene. The subfamily also includes the younger genera Phoberocyon (2. Species of Ursavus subsequently entered North America, together with Amphicynodon and Cephalogale, during the early Miocene (2. Based on genetic and morphological data, the Ailuropodinae (pandas) were the first to diverge from other living bears about 1. Mya ago, although no fossils of this group have been found before about 5 Mya. This genus is probably the direct ancestor to the North American short- faced bears (genus Arctodus), the South American short- faced bears (Arctotherium), and the spectacled bears, Tremarctos, represented by both an extinct North American species (T. It is likely ancestral to all bears within Ursinae, perhaps aside from the sloth bear. Two lineages evolved from U. Modern brown bears evolved from U. Species of Ursinae have migrated repeatedly into North America from Eurasia as early as 4 Mya during the early Pliocene. Direct ancestor- descendent relationships between individual species are often fairly well established, with sufficient intermediate forms known to make the precise cut- off between an ancestral and its daughter species subjective. Its original classification by Armand David in 1. Ursus, but, in 1. Alphonse Milne- Edwards to the raccoon family. However, more recent research does not support such a conclusion, and instead places it in its own family Ailuridae, in superfamily Musteloidea along with Mustelidae, Procyonidae, and Mephitidae. Koalas are often referred to as bears due to their appearance; however, they are marsupials, not bears. Classification(Extant species in bold, extinct taxa marked with . The Asiatic black bear and the polar bear used to be placed in their own genera, Selenarctos and Thalarctos; these names have since been reduced in rank to subgeneric rank. A number of hybrids have been bred between American black, brown, and polar bears. Biology. Morphology. Unlike most other Carnivora, bears have plantigrade feet. Despite being quadrupeds, bears can stand and sit similarly to humans. Bears are generally bulky and robust animals with relatively short legs. They are sexually dimorphic with regard to size, with the males being larger. Bears include the most massive terrestrial members of the order Carnivora. Some exceptional polar bears and Kodiak bears (a brown bear subspecies) have been weighed at 1,0. Adult male Kodiak bears average 4. Guinness Book of World Records. The tails of bears are often considered a vestigial feature and can range from 3 to 2. They distribute their weight toward the hind feet, which makes them look lumbering when they walk. They are still quite fast, with the brown bear reaching 4. Bears can stand on their hind feet and sit up straight with remarkable balance. Bears' nonretractable claws are used for digging, climbing, tearing, and catching prey. Their ears are rounded. Bears have an excellent sense of smell, better than the dogs (Canidae), or possibly any other mammal. This sense of smell is used for signalling between bears (either to warn off rivals or detect mates) and for finding food. Smell is the principal sense used by bears to find most of their food. The canine teeth are large, and the molar teeth flat and crushing. Considerable variation occurs in dental formula even within a given species. This may indicate bears are still in the process of evolving from carnivorous to predominantly herbivorous diets. Polar bears appear to have secondarily re- evolved carnassial- like cheek teeth, as their diets have switched back towards carnivory. The single exception is the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus); native to South America it inhabits the Andean region. The Atlas bear, a subspecies of the brown bear, was the only bear native to Africa. It was distributed in North Africa from Morocco to Libya, but has been extinct since around the 1. The most widespread species is the brown bear, which occurs from Western Europe eastwards through Asia to the western areas of North America. The American black bear is restricted to North America, and the polar bear is restricted to the Arctic Sea. All the remaining species are Asian. Some species, particularly the brown bear, may inhabit or seasonally use other areas, such as alpine scrub or tundra. Behaviour. Captive black bear cubs at play. Bears are generally diurnal, meaning that they are active for the most part during the day. The belief that they are nocturnal apparently comes from the habits of bears that live near humans, which engage in some nocturnal activities, such as raiding trash cans or crops while avoiding humans. Liaisons between breeding bears are brief, and the only times bears are encountered in small groups are mothers with young or occasional seasonal bounties of rich food (such as salmon runs). In autumn, some bear species forage large amounts of fermented fruits, which affects their behavior. At certain times of the year, these insects can make up 9. A study of Asiatic black bears in Taiwan found they would consume large numbers of acorns when they were most common, and switch to ungulates at other times of the year. However, both species of black bears and the brown bear can sometimes take large prey, such as ungulates. This competition is the main source of interspecies conflict. Bears are able to defend a carcass against some comers. Mother bears also can usually defend their cubs against other predators. When the bear passes, the tiger will spring from an overhead position and grab the bear from under the chin with one forepaw and the throat with the other. The immobilised bear is then killed with a bite to the spinal column. After killing a bear, the tiger will concentrate its feeding on the bear's fat deposits, such as the back, legs and groin. Sexual maturity is dependent on body condition, which is in turn dependent upon the food supply available to the growing individual. The females of smaller species may have young in as little as two years, whereas the larger species may not rear young until they are four or even nine years old. First breeding may be even later in males, where competition for mates may leave younger males without access to females. Bears in northern climates reproduce seasonally, usually after a period of inactivity similar to hibernation, although tropical species breed all year round. Cubs are born toothless, blind, and bald. The cubs of brown bears, usually born in litters of one to three, will typically stay with the mother for two full seasons. They feed on their mother's milk through the duration of their relationship with their mother, although as the cubs continue to grow, nursing becomes less frequent and cubs learn to begin hunting with the mother. They will remain with the mother for about three years, until she enters the next cycle of estrus and drives the cubs off. Bears will reach sexual maturity in five to seven years. Male bears, especially polar and brown bears, will kill and sometimes devour cubs born to another father to induce a female to breed again. Female bears give birth during the hibernation period, and are roused when doing so. All bears are physically powerful and are likely capable of fatally attacking a person, but they, for the most part, are shy, are easily frightened and will avoid humans. Injuries caused by bears are rare, but are often widely reported. However, when a mother feels that her cubs are threatened, she will behave ferociously. It is recommended to give all bears a wide berth; because, they are behaviorally unpredictable. Public perception of bears is often very positive, as people identify with bears due to their omnivorous diets, ability to stand on two legs, and symbolic importance. Kattints ide a megjel. When time shifts back to normal, they realise that they must do everything they can to avert this potential future. The revolution succeeds and the travellers go on their way, confident that the future has been changed. The Doctor says they landed far quicker than he ever has before. Ian and Barbara find they have switched clothes since just before they landed. They had been in their 1. Crusade clothes. Their old clothes will be hanging in the wardrobe. Following the Doctor's orders she also fetches a glass of water from the food machine. She is startled by something that makes her drop the drink. As the glass smashes on the floor, it immediately reforms itself and leaps back into her hand. She reports this to the Doctor, who says all should be explained when they explore the planet. He postulates it is a museum because the spacecraft are lined up in chronological order. Ian notices their footprints make no tracks in the dust. They head towards a large building in the middle of the spacecraft. The travellers hide from them, but as they pass Vicki sneezes loudly. To the travellers' surprise the two men do not seem to hear her. The Doctor says this is unexplainable and begins to explore the building. As they walk through the many corridors, they are startled by a Dalek, which they realise is only a museum piece. As they discuss Daleks, about which Vicki has only read, they see two more men coming. They hide but are surprised to see that although the men seem to be speaking to each other, they are inaudible to the travellers. Ian wonders if they speak at another frequency than humans. The Doctor doubts it, but has no other explanations. Their hands simply pass through them. The Doctor suggests they are not actually where they think they are. Yet again, they encounter three men who go about their business, unaware of the travellers. This supports the Doctor's theory. Barbara, Ian, and Vicki, although confused as to how the ship came to be here, say they think they should leave the planet. The Doctor soon proves this to be impossible. The TARDIS also cannot be touched. The Doctor points out a display case containing the bodies of the four travellers. He says the TARDIS must have jumped a time track when they materialised. Thus they temporarily occupy a fourth dimension. This lets them be simultaneously in the cases in one reality and standing, looking at themselves in the fourth dimension. He suggests that what they are seeing in front of them is merely a possibility of the future and it can be changed. He notes that the versions of them in the display cases are wearing the same clothes as they are wearing now, so it is only a matter of time before the two realities merge again. No sooner does he say this than Barbara has a strange feeling. Time seems to rewind and two men discover the TARDIS. At the same time, the display cases disappear. The Doctor announces, . Although concerned, he is also pleased to have his day's monotony broken by an intruder. He orders his men to find the visitors before the rebels find them. However, he is too late — three rebels have already heard about the travellers and intend to intercept them before Lobos' men. They will befriend them and overthrow the oppressive rule that Lobos, a representative of the Moroks, holds over them. The four friends discuss how best to avoid the future that they saw in the fourth dimension. It is suggested that they do the opposite of what they would normally do, but they decide to try to escape. If they escape, then they will never be captured in the first place. As they make their way through the corridors, they are pursued by the rebels, who decide that, to avoid startling the travellers, they will capture one of them and explain their situation. It is not long before the opportunity shows itself. As the travellers walk through the corridors, the Doctor is distracted by an exhibit and falls behind his friends. The rebels grab him and carry him away through a door without the others seeing. He plays dead and the rebels decide to split up. One of the rebels, Darko, elects to stay and watch the Doctor while the others go to track the other travellers. They decide it is best to push on for the exit. They question him about what happened, but he has no memory after being knocked unconscious. They go to seek the Doctor, who they assume escaped back into the museum. However, he is hiding in the hollowed out Dalek shell. When he escapes, he is accosted yet again, but this time by the Moroks. They unravel Barbara's cardigan to do this. The rebels find the yarn and decide to follow it. Eventually they find the exit. As they pull back the doors they see that the TARDIS has been captured. As he sits on it, bars lock him in place. A wall slides up to reveal Lobos. He explains that the museum is an homage to the great history of the Moroks and it is silent because the Moroks are now peace- loving creatures. Lobos asks the Doctor with whom he came here. The Doctor refuses to say, but Lobos somehow knows anyway. He explains that the Doctor's chair allows his thoughts to be shown on a video screen on his desk. When Lobos continues to question the Doctor, on how he came here and where he is from, the Doctor uses the strength of his brain to confuse and misdirect Lobos. Lobos tires of this and summons his guards to take the Doctor to the preparation room. He will become an exhibit, causing an image of the Doctor on display to appear. One of the Morok soldiers is sent to fetch cutting equipment. As the humans discuss what they should do, a Morok finds them and holds them at gunpoint. The gun must be a deterrent, not a threat. Ian calls the soldier's bluff and overpowers him. The other Moroks overhear the scuffle and rush to try to catch the travellers, but in the panic the humans flee in different directions. Barbara hides behind a stack of boxes. The Moroks leave without seeing her, but she finds they have locked the door, trapping her. At first she is terrified of her captors, especially when she hears that they captured the Doctor, but the rebels insist they wish her no harm. This is proved when they send one of their number, Dako, to find Barbara. He overhears a conversation between a Morok guard and Lobos over instructions to guard the TARDIS while the rest of the army track down the . He orders the guard to take him to where the Doctor is being held. The guard informs him that it will be too late for the Doctor, but Ian insists. He elects to flood his museum with Zaphra gas. This paralyses anyone who inhales it, making all the Moroks' enemies easy pickings. He says her name; this calms her. Dako says his race is called the Xerons. They are the original occupants of this planet, but the war- loving Moroks took over their planet to establish their museum. The Moroks swept away the Xeron civilisation and killed all the Xeron people except the children, whom they enslaved. These are the Xerons that now live underground in the museum. The conversation is interrupted by the Zaphra gas that floods into the room. Barbara and Dako try to escape before falling under the gas' paralytic effects. The Xerons admit that whilst they are more numerous, they do not have the artillery to overpower the Moroks. Vicki asks if there is an armoury that they can raid. The Xerons say that there is, but it is protected by a lock with a lie detector. Unless you answer a series of questions truthfully, you cannot enter. Vicki asks to be taken to this machine and the Xerons willingly oblige, happy to have an addition to their revolutionary force. The guard suggests waiting until it isn't as busy to enter. They are soon interrupted by Lobos. Ian hides while the Moroks talk. Ian learns that his friends have not been captured but gas will be used on them. They hide until the Preparation Room may be more accessible. Vicki listens to the questions that the complex telekinetic lock asks. As soon as she has heard the full cycle, she takes off the front of the machine and tinkers with its workings. She gets the machine to ask her the questions again. When asked what her name is, she responds with . While the Xerons begin arming themselves Vicki explains that she wired the machine to accept any truthful answer, not just the ones that the Moroks were looking for. Ian holds Lobos at gunpoint and demands to see the Doctor. Lobos obliges, saying there is no point. Ian stops in his tracks, shocked at the state the Doctor is in. He demands that Lobos reverse whatever it is that the machine has done to the Doctor. Lobos says the Doctor is as good as dead and it would be impossible to revive him. It has never been done before. Ian forces Lobos at gunpoint to do so. He orders his newly armed platoon to attack the barracks. As they do, Vicki says she wants to help find her friends. After arguing briefly, Tor agrees but sends Sita to protect her. The only side effect the Doctor displays is a bit of rheumatism from the extreme cold to which he was subjected. As the Doctor and Ian discuss their next move, a group of Moroks silently ambush them, knocking Ian unconscious. Once Lobos has imprisoned the two men, he tries to call the barracks to muster more men to find the rest of the aliens. Barbara has carried Dako to safety after he collapsed from the Zaphra gas. The guard pulls his gun on them when a shot rings out and he falls. Barbara and Dako turn to see Vicki and Sita, who is holding a gun. List of historical period drama films and series.
